Ensuring Trust: Your Role in Driver Verification

Hellocar.Rentals secures the booking process, but the final, mandatory step to ensure eligibility rests with you, the host. This guide outlines how to confirm the guest's identity at check-in.

You must verify the physical ID of every guest against their profile before handing over the keys. Failure to do so may void your protection plan.

Layer 1: Pre-Trip Verification (Platform)

What Hellocar.Rentals Handles Automatically (via ID.me)

Before a booking is confirmed, Hellocar.Rentals uses **ID.me's federally-accredited identity verification service** to perform robust security checks.

Biometric & Document Verification

ID.me requires the guest to upload a photo of their **physical Driver's License (DL)** and a live **selfie**. The system validates the DL's authenticity and confirms the face matches the photo on the document.

High-Assurance Identity Proofing

ID.me provides a NIST 800-63-3 (IAL2) compliant credential, checking driving eligibility, identity history, and running automated fraud detection before Hellocar.Rentals ever approves the booking.

Layer 2: Mandatory Check-In Confirmation (Host)

Your Required Steps at Handover

Your role is to confirm that the person taking the vehicle is the approved, verified guest listed on the reservation. The app will guide you, but these rules are critical:

Verification Requirements

Inspect the Physical DL

The guest must present the **original, physical driver's license**. Digital or photocopies are **not** acceptable for this final step.

Match Face to Photo & Profile

Visually confirm that the guest's face matches the photo on the license, and that the license details (name, DOB) match the information displayed in the Magdoll app for the reservation.

Check Eligibility Status

Quickly verify the license is **not expired, suspended, or visibly altered**. If the license looks fraudulent, do not proceed with the handover and contact Magdoll support immediately.

Note on Contactless Check-In

For contactless handovers, the Magdoll app will prompt the guest to upload a time-stamped photo of themselves holding their ID next to their face. You must review this photo in the app before remotely unlocking the vehicle.
